Project
The Canton of Basel-Stadt as a model of climate-neutral administration
What is the total amount of greenhouse gas emissions that is produced by the Justice and Security Department of the Canton of Basel-Stadt? To answer this question, we calculated the carbon footprint of all emission sources in the Department – from the uniforms to the office furniture, the vehicle fleet, and the various department buildings. We then devised a set of measures that could be implemented to improve the department’s carbon footprint. The aim of the project was to arrive at a standardized procedure that could be applied to all of the canton’s administrative departments.
